SUZANNE WRIGHT CRAIN

The Glial Cells series of drawings, paintings and silk hangings were inspired by the study of fractals of astrocytes and other glial cells in mammalian brains. Through the practice of Continuum and the art process I use, I am brought into relationship with the astrocytes - the way they move and their intrinsic capacity to respond to sensation. From a movement perspective, when you move like something, you are in relationship to it. This synergistic experience allows me bring to light the healing potential inherent in our glial cells.  

This body of work offers to bring the viewer into relationship with the octipodal movement of calcium waves as they move through our brain tissues.
